Counselling in St Albans

First Consultation Meeting

This is a no obligations first meeting and an opportunity to freely talk about the issues affecting you. It's an opportunity to ask questions about the process of therapy and to see if the experience suits you and your needs.

For some people this one session may be enough to gain a new understanding to tackle the issue from a different perspective.

Up to 60 minutes - £70.00

Psychotherapy

On-going therapy offers the opportunity to explore the issues that matter to you at your own pace. It may involve exploring your childhood or it may not - that is up to you. You'll be asked to speak about whatever is on your mind. Over time, working together, you can begin to develop the skill of self reflection and the ability to recognise patterns of behaviour, and conflicts, in yourself which will then be open to the possibility of change. Therapy can be ended at any time that suits you.

Weekly 50 minute session - £65.00 per session

Time-limited counselling

This is a time-limited piece of work where together we agreed on what is most troubling you and what will be our focus for attention over the next 10 sessions. Time-limited work can be very helpful where there is a clear focus - it may be a workplace issue or relationship problem with one person close to you. At the end of the 10 weeks clients usually have a much better understanding of the issue and capacity to change and deal with it.

Weekly 50 minute session - 10 sessions offered for a fee of £600

The Counselling Agreement

If we agree to work together a counselling agreement marks the entering into of the therapeutic relationship and covers:

Payment arrangements

This will be agreed at the initial consultation if you decide to embark on counselling. Fee payment will normally be by cheque or BACS.

Missed sessions, breaks and holidays

Therapy works best when it is a regular weekly appointment with continuity between sessions. Missed appointments or cancelled sessions are chargeable in full, apart from in exceptional circumstances. If you are unable to keep your regular appointment, please contact me asap in advance so I can offer you an alternative session in that week if possible. For on-going therapy there will be breaks at Christmas; Easter and in the summer.

Confidentiality

I follow the Code of Ethics as set out by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). All therapeutic sessions are held in strictest confidence apart from when there is a legal requirement to disclose information and/or when there is a clear intention to harm other people and/or one's self.
